Minecraft Beacon Lamp (LED Lamp Kit 001 & WLED)

Build the beacon in your base and enjoy the boosts!

Say hello to the LED Minecraft Beacon Lamp. This wonderful model is roughly an 8x scale with a little interpretation for the glass enclosure. Modelled around the LED Lamp Kit found in the Bambu store, I've added an insert to support an LED strip with a controller. Both options for illumination are supported

This is a very simple build and is printable even on the A1 Mini. This model consists of 7 plates pushing together with their joins. All press joins have a tolerance of 0.1mm which I was able to achieve with my A1. No screws or glue required during construction. If you want to have the beacon attached upside down or horizontally I would consider glue.

Materials & Filament:

For the model seen above I've used;

- PLA White for the glass enclosure - PLA Sparkle for the obsidian base - PTEG Transparent for the beacon shell. The base and glass enclosure were printed using the 0.4 nozzle, however, the PTEG shell was printed at 0.6 nozzle. PTEG transparent can be printed with a smaller nozzle, seek Bambu Labs tips on printing PTEG transparent filament. I have not tested printing the shell in generic PLA, however after running a transparent test, I can't see it working with anything that isn't transparent.

Construction:

- Print & remove supports (GIF 1) - Insert LED Lamp Kit 001 or WLED Insert (Scroll down for examples of LED Strip) (GIF 2) - Insert the beacon shell (GIF 3) - Press fit the rear panel with the rear of the base (use the cable cut out for guidance) - Press fit sides and top panels - Join all together with the final front panel WLED Examples

This is the insert that is printable for the WLED beacon route. It has a 55mm cutout from the top with enough space to fit a microcontroller and any necessary wiring. For my design, I've used a 12v LED strip that I have glued spirally 8mm from the bottom to the top. Remember to keep 8mm exposed at the bottom to fit inside the obsidian base. Ive also used an EPS32 controller. There are a bunch of tutorials on Youtube on how to use WLED from installation to wiring. PLEASE REMEMBER: HEAT WARNING

LED Strip can become hot when on for large durations and the default beacon shell keeps all heat trapped inside the enclosure. Please be cautious in filament selection and consider tougher materials such as PTEG and above. I recommend using the second print plate on the beacon shell print file with the added Minecraft sword air vent to expel heat.

During my testing, I was able to fit 80 LED cells (60 cells/meter) around my insert. The exposed wires (image above) have been cleaned and cut and kept under inside the lamp base (image below). Ive used hot glue to contain the wires and plugs.
