58.4mm Expresso Dosing Funnel, Designed for Gaggia

Summary

Update 08/10/2022 VST compatible funnel uploaded. Works great. I printed it with 0.12mm layer height and 70% infill with PETG. I found my previous PLA version was quite fragile and ended up breaking off one of the feet.

IMPORTANT! Print the funnel Upside down to ensure good clean layers where the funnel meets the portafilter. If the top of the funnel is a little flat that doesn't hurt the quality, and you wont need supports. Update 02/04/2022 Funnel is not suitable for a 18g VST basket. Will be uploading a VST version once I have printed a test.

I have a Gaggia Classic expresso machine, and designed this dosing funnel so it would fit the Gaggia style portafilter. The Funnel sits on the top edge of the basket so you can even tamp with funnel still in place. So there is no gap for grinds to end up on the edge of the basket. I have not tested this will a VST basket yet, I will upload a version 2 if necessary for the VST basket. The three tabs on the bottom are not symmetrical so to aid in aligning the funnel on the portafilter. When in place, the funnel should only swivel left and right by at most 3-4mm.

PRINTING

Print the Funnel upside down so the tabs are facing up, this will allow you to print the dosing funnel without any need for supports.

The infill percentage can vary as you can trade off surface finish against print speed and total filament used. I used 40% infill for PLA for a good surface finish and it took approx. 1hr when printing slow using approx. 13g (4.2m) of filament. Although this version is quite fragile and ended up printing the VST funnel in PETG with 70% for much better results.
