Overview

Unleash a unique and practical chess set experience with this modular, full-size chess set! The board is divided into four quadrants. The innovative design features embedded storage bases for each quadrant, with lids that double as individual sections of the complete chessboard. Each square of the board, storage base, and piece is equipped with pockets for embedding 6x2mm magnets, enabling a seamless magnetic hold for the pieces on the board and between quadrants.

Features

- Modular Design: Four separate board quadrants can be printed individually and magnetically join together for a full-size chessboard. - Dual-Purpose Lids: Each quadrant lid doubles as a section of the chessboard. - Magnetic Embedding: Pockets for 6x2mm magnets in each board square, storage base, and base of each piece keep your game secure and pieces stable during play. - Built-in Storage Base: Each quadrant includes a storage compartment for pieces, making transport and storage simple and organized. - Pause-to-Embed Print Settings: The included print profile includes a pause mechanism at a specific layer in order to allow the user to embed the 6x2mm magnets into the print. NOTE: The storage base magnets should be glued into the sides of the base after the print is finished. Specifications

- Board Dimensions: 400mm x 400mm x 40.35mm (when fully assembled) - Chess Piece Size: Standard size chess pieces with a dedicated magnet pocket in each base. - Magnet Compatibility: Designed for 6x2mm magnets in each chess square, quadrant base edge, and piece base for secure connections. A total of 104 magnets are needed for the entire design. - Assembly Requirements: Magnets (6x2mm) and adhesive if necessary for enhanced hold. Suggested Print Settings

- Material: PLA or PETG - Layer Height: 0.2mm - Infill: 15% - Supports: Custom tree supports for the chess pieces. No supports needed for the storage base or lid. - Print Pausing: Set up a pause at the layer just above the magnet pockets (specific layer depends on your print height and layer settings) to insert 6x2mm magnets securely in place. The pause should happen on the layer BEFORE the hole is covered up.

Magnet Layer Pause, 0.20mm layer, 2 walls, 15% infill - Included layer pause for magnet embedding on both chess pieces and game board/lid - 0.2mm layer height - 15% inflill - Custom tree supports for chess pieces

Light Color Depth Increased, 0.2mm layer, 2 walls Increased the number of layers from the surface that the lighter color is printed for the lid/board. This helps prevent the darker color from showing through around the magnet slots.

First Layer FIX - with modifier cubes and pause for magnets I added a new print profile to fix something that the other profiles didn't account for. Even with the modifier cubes for a more solid first layer, you can see that the print pattern still made a circle which is highly visible on the board. I removed this by changing a setting in the advanced settings.

0.12 layers/8 walls for game pieces, white fix on board I made a few tweaks to the print settings to make the end result something I'm extremely happy with that will be a great gift to my kids and a print that we're proud to have on display because it looks so nice. The main changes I made were improving the color selection on the board so that the black doesn't show through the white, and also improving the detail and weight of the pieces as the originals felt a little bit light to me and I wanted them to feel a little more substantial.

Chess Board:

- Used Modifier cubes to change how infill color on the white sections color was applied Pieces:

- 0.12 layer height to have increased better detail on the pieces - 8 walls

Full Fill Chess Squares (H2D) Updated to do full fill of the chess squares to not see infill and black filament behind it.

On an H2D or H2C this is only one filament change. (if doing B&W it would be zero)
