Espresso Shaker (54mm Breville/Sage portafilter)

I recently took the plunge into the wild world of coffee, and let's just say it’s been brewtiful and tragic in equal measure. After refusing to buy acupuncture needles for a WDT tool (I draw the line at DIY surgery supplies), I thought of using a fork, which did not work as well as I had hoped...

Determined not to get better, I tried to design a fully 3D-printable WDT tool as, once again, I did not want to go outside and buy acupuncture needles.

That also did not go as well as I had hoped, and the needles broke before I could even use it.

Then I stumbled upon a YouTube short claiming espresso shakers are superior to WDT tools. I accepted this wisdom without question because printing a shaker sounded way easier than printing needles.

Enter: Revision 1.5 of my 3D-printed espresso shaker! Previously, I tried adding texture to the plug, which turned out to be a bad idea because it trapped coffee grounds and did not look very appealing.

This can be summarized as:

The good.

My espresso shots are coming out way better!

The bad.

The plug is a pain to separate.

I’m hoping to improve this design and make it fit the standard 57mm portafilters — so please comment your ideas and, feedback.
