Type-C shell for female USB-Connector Board

If you need a shell for USB-Type-C female connector board, this one is for you!

This shell is designed to fit a female usb type-c connector (9mm wide, 3,3mm thick, ~15,5mm long)

and a recycled logitech “mouse”-wire (2.8mm diameter)

Be aware: This is a (very) tight fit! You may need some scaling.

Printing instructions

Print at 0,2mm layer height, Arachne wall generator. You may need to scale to your needs as the available connectors may differ. If your cable is thicker, use a pint-modifier and boolean operation to enlarge the hole.

Mounting instructions

- Cut the USB-Cable at an angle to help inserting it - Insert the cable and fiddle it through the Shell A twist-motion may help (rotating the wire, not dancing). - Prepare the wire for soldering - remove outer jacket (about 15mm)

- remove shielding foil and cut the shielding wire

- bend and arrange the wires as needed - cut to equal length - strip the insulation from the power and data wires

- tin the wires - Prepare the solderpads (add some solder) - Solder the wires to the pads V = Red

D- = White D+ = Green G = Black

- Pull the cable through the shell until the connector pcb touches the front of the housing If your cable is loose, add hotglue to the pcb and inside the shell, then be quick ;-) - Align the pcb and push it in about 0,5-1mm

- Pull the cable carefuly - repeat Steps 7 and 8 until the metal part is flush with the shell - Add some glue where the cable exits the shell (i used some clear uv-curing glue)

- Handle with care. Avoid pulling on the cable or bends near the connector. There is no real strain relief!
