Details:

This is a simple plastic visor that can be 3D printed in 25-30 minutes to create face shields. It has been verified by a major hospital to be effective against droplets and splatters. If you would like to keep up to date with this project, please see our website here: http://makers4medicine.org

We are not charging for these shields and we are donating them to local hospitals. If you would like to help cover our costs, our GoFundMe is here: https://www.gofundme.com/manage/3d-printed-face-shields-for-covid19-frontline

Face shields are not meant to filter air; they are meant to keep droplets from the eyes, nose and face (both ways). They are usually worn in addition to goggles and a face mask. Frontline health care workers are not only running out of masks and goggles, they also need these face shields!

To assemble this face shield, you will need:

- Plastic filament for 3D printed visor (this thing) - Clear plastic binding covers (available at Staples and Office Depot) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077H4635Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - 1/2" - 3/4" Elastic band (hair bands cut in half also work - Dollar Tree!) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073YRXVX6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - Backer rod (mini pool-noodles) for head comfort (available at Lowe’s and Home Depot) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BQWOC0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - Print the visor (see settings below). - Cut backer rod to length. - Slice backer rod with razor blade or scissors down the middle. One of our makers made a great tool to help with this - see here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4240317 - Clip backer rod onto inside curve of visor. - Punch holes in transparent report cover using normal hole punch and round corners using scissors. - Snap report cover onto visor and slide ends of report cover into slots. - Tie elastic into slots in back of visor. For mass production, we recommend a hole punch like this using 5 hole punches at once: https://www.amazon.com/Officemate-Adjustable-Punches-Capacity-Renewed/dp/B07SBPX928/ref=sr_1_12?keywords=7+hole+punch&qid=1585020655&sr=8-12

These face shields are also very easy to ship disassembled as kits because all the parts are flat!
