Kratky Hydroponics Blackout Sleeve for 32oz Mason Jar

This is a blackout sleeve and cover for 32oz mason jars, for use with Kratky hydroponics.

The sleeve blocks light to prevent algea growth. The sleeve fits loosely so the plant can be lifted out to check nutrient levels easily. The cover threads on the jar by way of a split in the side. The lid should tighten against the cover with a 3" net pot installed to form a snug assembly. From there, handle by the jar lid to insert or remove from the sleeve.

I use these sleevs in a grow tent under LED lighting and it seems to do a fine job of preventing algae growth. Not a hint of green after several weeks of use.

This model was made to fit Bernardin 32oz jars, the predominant type in my area. Fit with Ball jars or other brans is probably okay but not tested.

I printed in Bambu PETG HF black but this should work fine with other materials. I have not tested other colours for light blocking quality. The sleeve is 1mm thick in my prints and that seems to be a good balance between strength, light blocking, and filament conservation. The lid is designed with as much relief as possible to keep filament use down as well.

EDIT:

Separated sleeve and lid models.
