Two/Three-Piece Curtain Rod Support Brace (Parametric)

I had a two-piece curtain rod that was stretched to the point where there was barely an inch of overlap, causing the heavy curtain to make it sag and risk the two rods disconnecting and falling apart.

This brace is meant to slip over the connection point and add support to prevent this sagging. It is parametric so you can edit all of the parameters to fit your needs.

Print with a brim and plenty of walls, depending on the size you require.

Directions

- Using a caliper grab diameter measurements of the smaller and larger rod. Put those values into the SMALL_DIAMETER and LARGE_DIAMETER parameters. Keep the values exactly as the caliper reports, don't round up or down. - Adjust the tolerance as you see fit. Print a tolerance tester (I prefer this one ) and use whichever value has a friction fit but does not require much force. - Figure out the overall width you'd like to cover, make sure it's long enough to make a difference in the strength. Update OVERALL_LENGTH and WALL_THICKNESS , the latter of which is more important than the length.. The ones in my example are at 80mm long and 4mm thick and they are super rigid. Make them a little longer than you think you need, more reinforcement won't hurt. - TRANSITION_DISTANCE can likely be left alone. - Print upright in the logical direction (bigger side on bottom), and use a brim. Note that this is not the most optimal way to print strength-wise due to the stress going in the direction of the layer lines, but the printing will be much easier. Counteract this by making it thicker.
