Self Expression, Modularity and Utility.

About the Case..

Self Expression:

CMF stands for Colors Materials & Finishes so in order to honor the name, the accessories can be all printed using different pops of colors and finishes if the user pleases. The accessories all work independent from one another which leads to the next point.

Modularity:

There is no need to sacrifice with this design system, if you add protective bumpers, you can still add or remove the rest of the accessories. No need to commit to one combination.

Utility:

MAGSAFE, Vertical & Horizontal Phone Stand, Camera Tripod Mount, Keychain/Lanyard Loop, Microscope, Phone Case.

Accessory 1: Phone Case

Designed to protect the corners of the phone without hiding the colors materials and finishes that make the CMF phone so stylish while remaining slim on the back for additional accessories.

Accessory 2: Heavy Duty Lanyard Loop

Designed with a long pill shaped hole to accommodate a versatile set of attachments from rounded rings , flat keyrings, cords etc.

Accessory 3: Camera Mounting Plate & Macro Lens

Designed to accommodate the CMF Lens Accessories + An additional Microscope Lens

Why a Microscope lens? The Camera has a surprisingly powerful telephoto lens with lens accessories available for it yet. That's right, the little camera is actually a sleeper … it may look smaller but has pretty good specs. The powerful zoom of this lens can be taken advantage of as a microscope by using a lens to shorten the focal length, allowing you to get within ten centimeters of an object. In the world of EDC (Everyday Carry) there are few things a Phone and a Multitool can't do. But one of those things is the Magnifying Glass. Pairing the sharp camera sensor of the CMF phone with a microscopic sharpness on the go will be a dream come true for hobbyists, nature explorers, and electrical engineers or someone trying to fit a string through a needle.

Challenge: Look at someone Eyeball with it! Here is a live screenshot of my eye using it. (the image is only blurry because the camera was shaky.. pair the lens with the stand and the image is perfectly sharp.)

How well does it work? It can see some of the finest ½ mm electrical traces on a PCB, fibers on a napkin or a diamond with ease. For on the go sudden moments when you'd like to inspect something, it's perfect.

Here's two live videos showing it in action. The Camera is shaky but it would be much better using the Swivel Harness Accessory to reduce shaking.

How to assemble: Print the file and insert a 12.5mm Hastings Lens (easy to find) inside and now you have a microscope lens attachment. Easiest way to get a Hastings lens is to order a Jewelers Loupe on Amazon and unscrew the casing. (the lens will slide ride out) Almost always they are 12.5mm Hastings lenses but double check it isn't a 15mm lens.

How to use the lens: Open the camera app and use the 2x Camera Zoom mode in Expert Mode on the CMF Phone 2 Pro with the Lens attached to the phone case.

Accessory 4 The Swivel Harness - MAGSAFE + Phone Stand + Camera Tripod Swivel Mount:

Designed for videography and photography or prolonged video calls. This is less of an everyday accessory and more of a precision tool for getting the perfect camera shot. You can fine tune the how loosely or tightly the harness swivels by simple tightening and loosening the screws.

If you're sitting at a desk recording or shooting photos or flogging this accessory is versatile.

Use it without a tripod for low up close angled shots (great to pair with the microscope accessory)

Use with a tripod/selfie stick to get action shots, aerial shots and more.

*Note: I will continue updating this project with video tutorials on assembly or modification of the files + additional accessories etc.

Objects NOT Included: Get a pack of M1.6 Screws (Various Lengths), 1x M2.5 Screw For Lanyard Loop, and M3 Screws + 2x M3 Hex Nuts for the Swivel Harness. 1x 3/8 to 1/2 tripod thread adapter. 1x 12.5 mm diameter Hastings lens for the Microscope Lens. (easy way to find one, order a 12.5mm 14x Jewelers Loupe on Amazon, unscrew the casing and slide the lens out & insert into 3D Printed Model

I used a 14x Hastings lens like this one: 14x Jewelers Loupe

Notes on screws. Depending on your own 3D printers tolerances and slicer settings, hole dimensions can very. It's best to do a test and determine if you need to slightly increase or decrease hole features in 3D files. (usually +- .5mm should do). Choose screws according to your preference (hex/Phillips/etc.) If you want to easily remove accessories and don't want to carry around a tool to loosen or tighten threads.. you could make thumbscrews. (will add those to the file later)
