100mm/4" Exhaust Port for xTool M1 Lasercutter (Quick disconnection)

I wasn't happy with the performance of the exhaust system of my xTool M1, because my whole apartment smelled like a forrest fire after cutting or engraving wood. The solution was an additional inline pipe fan but that required a 100 mm (4") hose.

Instead of just printing an adapter I completely redesigned the connector for the lasercutter to get as much airflow as possible and therefore quickly rid of the fumes. I also designed the corresponding part for the hose that gets attached with a hose clamp and slides over the bevelled part of the connector. Due to the dovetail-shaped design and the slightly upwards pointing angle you get a very good seal without magnets and can disconnect and reconnect the system VERY quickly.

Please note: You will need four M5x10 mm screws (cylindrical head) to fasten the exhaust port to the lasercutter. My prototype used the original thumb screws but they were awkward to turn and got loose rather quickly, so I switched to proper hardware ;)

My M1 sits on a cart made out of 40 mm aluminium extrusion, that's why I included a mounting flange in the design to fasten the connector to the metal as well. I strongly guess that you don't have the exact same setup so I designed a second version with a plane bottom.

Printing: Place the parts on the printbed as shown in the last picture (You don't have to print them at the same time). For the laser-part choose a small layer height to get a smooth surface on the angled part. The hose-part should be placed on the round end to also get a smooth top surface, because these two mating parts will form the “seal” when connected. PLA works fine as along as you print with enough perimeters (I chose 5 because the hose clamp creates a lot of force on the part). Add a brim and supports if necessary with your printer.
