Описание

When I got my girlfriend a new Dyson Airwrap, one of the first things she mentioned was that the standard attachments were a bit too gentle for certain styling jobs.

She specifically missed the intense, direct airflow of her old hairdryer's flat concentrator nozzle, especially for round-brushing her front hair strands. The Airwrap's existing drying attachments rely heavily on the Coanda effect, which is great for smoothing, but not ideal when you need a strong, focused, flow of air.

I hit up Amazon hoping to find a simple third-party solution, but did not find anything. There just wasn't a "sharp," non-Coanda 90° sideways concentrator available.

So, I decided to engineer one myself.

The Design Process

My main focus was creating a perfectly homogenous airflow across the entire outlet area with minimal restriction, allowing the Dyson motor to deliver maximum pressure and flow.

As you can see from the images, I used CFD to simulate and optimize the internal channels. The result of that engineering is this "beauty", a specialized nozzle designed specifically to fill that gap in the Airwrap's toolkit.

Printing Instructions

- Orientation: I printed this standing up at a 45° angle (tilted backwards).

- Supports: By printing at this angle, I only needed supports right at the base connection ring. The rest of the model then mostly consists of 45° overhangs or less, which printed perfectly fine on my Prusa Mini.

CRITICAL TEMPERATURE WARNING

Because the Airwrap can get very hot, material choice and usage settings are incredibly important!

- Material: Do NOT use PLA. I highly recommend using at least PETG (or ASA/ABS/PC if you can print them) for better heat resistance.

- Dyson Settings: It is crucial that you DO NOT use the highest temperature setting (the red dot) on the Dyson. The highest setting can reach over 110°C, which will deform or melt almost any standard 3D filament.

- Tested Safe: The middle temperature setting is fine. I have tested it multiple times; it reaches exactly around 65°C, which PETG handles easily.

I hope this solves a problem for others out there like it did for us. Happy printing!
