QR or Threaded Adapter - Tripod to Picatinny Rail

I found only one Picatinny rail to tripod adapter so I could mount my scope to my tripod. I made it and the base was too large to fit my Quick Release (QR) mount. I also have a small tripod for a spotting scope that has a screw instead of the QR mount. This is a remix that fixes both of those issues. I took the base measurements from a universal QR Mount I got from Amazon. That mount has worked on several QR tripods of different manufacture.

I filled the original model's base in and added a 10mm deep hole that is sized for the internationally accepted 1/4-20 screw. If you choose to use the screw-in tripod, you will have to cut the threads yourself. Use the screw from your tripod or a 1/4-20 screw, go slow, and back the screw out occasionally while you are threading the hole. This will ensure a tight fit to your tripod without stripping out 3D printed threads. You may try heating the screw to make it easier though I did not. If you have a 1/4-20 tap, you can also use that.

I printed this in PETG. It took about two hours and used less than 30 grams of filament, including supports. The settings I used for the supports allowed them to peel off in almost two parts. With only two wall loops and 10% infill, the mount was solid enough to hold my ATN X-Sight 4K Pro 5-20x with the illuminator (over 2.2 lbs/0.99 kg).
