Описание
This is a quarter-turn mount for a Garmin Varia radar light that mounts to Trek Bontrager saddles.
The Garmin socket is friction fit, the backplate does not have the "nubs" nor does it flex like original Garmin Mounts. This was done to make printing more reliable (no supports, no thin pieces to print strangely) and make the mount more reliable (nothing to break, more solid). The friction of the socket holds the Varia light quite well and I have not noticed any rotation of the Varia light, even after long and bumpy rides. Plus, the Varia light would need to turn a full quarter rotation to fall out of the socket which is likely to never happen.
There are three variations to compensate for different saddle angle/tilt so that the Varia light is as near vertical as possible. The Garmin socket is angled "back" slightly more in each version. The base version is angled back 16 degrees compared to the mount's legs. There are 19 degree and 22 degree versions as well.
Mounting holes are for M5 screws. Don't crush the feet!
Printing Guidelines:
- PLA, PETG, and ABS have all been tested with good results. PETG is probably the best choice.
- This was primarily designed for road biking on decent roads. If you use this for harsher conditions (mountain biking, gravel, bad roads, you will want to increase the number of perimeters.
- Slower printing seems to help create the socket better.
- No supports are necessary.
My printer settings: PrusaSlicer 0.20mm BALANCED, PETG, Core One+. No changes, nothing fancy.
A common issue is the mount eventually cracking along the layer lines in the mounting legs, typically close to where the screw-hole feet are located. This is most likely due to poor layer adhesion in your printer, harsh riding conditions (lots of vibration), or both. Try increasing hot-end temperature, reduce layer height, reduce print speed ("structural" slicing), and increase wall/perimeter count. More "forgiving" filaments, i.e. PETG over PLA, will also help.
