ESP32-CAM Lens Adjusting Tools for OV3660

These tools are for breaking the lens factory glue seal and also adjusting the lens focus.

The ESP32-CAM lens comes glued in place from the factory.

I found it very hard to break the glue bond with pliers which don't grip the lens properly.

This resulted in damaging a lens so it cant be gripped any more.

I made these tools to hold the camera module in place and then to be able to twist the lens anticlockwise and break the glue bond.

I used the cam plate to hold the ESP32-CAM module and the thumbwheel to twist the lens.

A surprising amount of force is required to do this.

I repeated the exercise successfully on two separate modules.

There are a couple of variants of the OV2640 and the OV3660

These tools work with the modules where the lens protrudes from the housing by 2mm.(OV3660)

There is another variant that has the front face of the lens flush with the housing which means it cannot be gripped so doesn't lend itself to a 3d printed tool.

Note these tools are very close tolerance fit and require gently pressing them on the lens.

You may find your prints don't fit and therefore require scaling in your slicing software.

These tools were printed an a Prusa Mini+.

I have included step files to make it easier to modify if required.

Also I've included ESP32-Camera module.step which is the model I made from which I made

all the tools.

Some of the tools will be useful for adjusting the focus when the camera is mounted in place.
