Model

This is a collection of different curved track pieces.

They come in 3 radii:

- R0 - 395mm

- R1 - 540mm, identical to original Playmobil curves

- R2 - 685mm

and each in 3 angles:

- 10° - 1/3 of standard curved track (SCT)

- 15° - 1/2 of SCT

- 30° - 1/1 of SCT, identical to original Playmobil curves

The R1 30° is most likely uneconomical to print. They can be found on eBay/etc. for cheap because they where included in every train set. A lot of people that have playmobil trains have more curves than they need.

Both the R1 30° and R2 30° are too big to print on a lot of printers. The R0 curves may be too small for a number of rollingstock, they might derail.

The choice of radii comes from the original Playmobil curved track (540mm radius, 30° angle), which was labeled R1. This curve (and the original switch tracks with the same dimensions) gives a parallel track distance of 145mm (between track center points). Therefore the R0 and R2 radii are each 145mm small/bigger than R1.

Markings

On the underside of the track pieces is the radius, both as R number and in mm, the angle, and the fraction relative to 30° (same original Playmobil curved track).

Printing

I printed all track pieces in PETG via 0.4mm nozzle at 0.2mm layer height. I changed the following settings from the "0.2mm Quality" default (bold settings are important):

- Top solid layers: 6

- Seam position: Nearest

- Top fill pattern: Monotonic

- Generate support: yes

- Overhang threshold: 40°

- Support on build plate only: yes

- Don't support bridges: yes

- Infill/perimeter overlap: 25%

The supports are needed for the connecting studs.
