Replacement Water Bottle Cap / Lid (Ridged & Smooth)

The Problem There is nothing more annoying than dropping a perfectly good water bottle and having the plastic cap crack or shatter. Instead of throwing the bottle away, I fired up the 3D printer to create a durable, watertight replacement.

The Design This cap is designed to be a straightforward, highly functional replacement. It threads smoothly onto standard bottle necks and provides a tight seal to prevent leaks.

I have included two different file versions to choose from:

- Ridged Version: Features textured vertical ridges around the outside for extra grip, making it easy to open and close tightly, even with wet hands.

- Smooth Version: A sleek, low-profile design for a clean aesthetic.

Print Settings

To ensure the cap doesn't leak and can withstand being twisted tightly, I highly recommend the following settings:

- Material: PETG (Highly recommended over PLA. PETG is slightly more flexible, which helps create a better watertight seal against the bottle's rim, and it handles moisture much better).

- Layer Height: 0.16 mm or 0.20 mm (Lower layer heights help produce much smoother and more accurate internal threads).

- Wall/Perimeter Count: 4 to 6 walls. (Extra walls are crucial for making the cap watertight and strong enough to resist cracking when tightened).

- Top/Bottom Layers: 5+ layers (To prevent water from seeping through the top surface).

- Infill: 100% (Since it is a small part, solid infill ensures maximum durability).

- Supports: No supports required. Print it flat on its top surface.
