🧲 CORE ONE L TOPMOD – Magnetic TopCover for Single Extruder & INDX

🖨 What is the CORE ONE L TOPMOD?

The CORE ONE L TOPMOD is a modular top cover for the Prusa CORE ONE L.

The main feature is that the entire top cover is magnetically attached and can be removed without disconnecting the PTFE tubes from the printer.

The PTFE feed tubes remain securely guided by the rear plate. This allows the top cover to be removed and reinstalled quickly and easily.

The TOPMOD is designed for both Single Extruder use and future use with the INDX system .

Note: At the time of publication, the INDX system is not yet available for the CORE ONE L. The INDX compatibility has therefore been prepared in the design and may be further adjusted once the actual system becomes available.

🔧 Assembly & Installation

The PTFE pass-through holes need to be drilled manually .

The TPU part was intentionally designed as a solid piece, allowing you to determine the position and number of PTFE pass-throughs yourself.

The required magnets need to be glued into place. I recommend using super glue together with activator .

The side panels need to be manufactured or purchased separately.

I simply transferred the hole positions from the printed frame onto the panels and drilled them afterwards. This worked without any problems for me.

Plexiglass

For my top cover, I used 3 mm thick, grey-tinted plexiglass .

Unfortunately, the tint is not very visible in the photos. Of course, you can use other colors as well – for example red, orange, transparent, or whatever suits your setup.

My recommendation:

Print the frame first.

You can then determine the required plexiglass dimensions directly from the finished frame. A simple measuring tool – or even a tape measure – is sufficient for this.

I allowed approximately 1 mm of clearance all around so that the plexiglass is not under tension or clamped too tightly.

🧲 Magnetic Mounting

The basic mounting principle can be seen clearly in the pictures.

The top cover is held in place by magnets and can simply be removed whenever needed.

The major advantage is:

The PTFE tubes can remain connected.

This means you do not have to disconnect or disassemble the entire filament feed system every time you remove the top cover.
