LowRider 3 CNC - Add-on - Pen Holder / Drag Knife Holder - designed for LR3 Dust Shoe (v2.0)

This is a remix of several prior iterations — originally designed for LowRider 2, now revised for LowRider 3.

Prints with no supports needed. Print as oriented. Use the same number of perimeter walls and same infill as most of the LowRider 3 parts.

Two choices of spring leaf thickness:

Choose your desired thickness for the spring leaf of the Mount B part that holds the pen or drag knife: There is a 1.0 mm thick option (same as original design) and a 0.8 mm thick option, which should allow a better range of motion (i.e. with less tension), by allowing more distance in the spring's motion before a pen tears the paper, or before the drag knife slices too deeply into the sign vinyl, or whatever.

- Attach MOUNT B to MOUNT A — using two (2) M3 x 10mm screws and nuts. There are "capture" slots to hold the nuts in place. - Remove two M5 screws — one from the right side of the lower router mount, and one from the right side of the dust shoe mount. - Replace the above M5 screws with longer ones (recommend M5 x 45mm), inserting them though MOUNT A part, then back into their original locations. Tighten pretty snug. - Using two zip ties, attach your desired pen or drag knife or other small tool. This new pen holder's offsets for X and Y (offsets from center of router bit to center of pen holder edge — add the radius of your selected tool to the following ):

X = 61.25mm Y = 61.25mm

(It's designed to jut out from the router mount at 45 degrees from the center of the bit / router.)

This design can work with either the original LR3 router mount & dust shoe (for 48mm hose) designed for Makita router, and also can work with my remix of that mount & dust shoe (for 2.5" hose), which is linked below. Other router mounts (such as Dewalt) may also be supported if they were based on the same design from V1 Engineering.

Change log:

- July 9, 2022: Updated to v2, primarily because the spring effect was too stiff. Reduced it by cutting the spring area back down to match the previous iterations. This also resulted in making the part print in a shorter time and use less plastic. - July 10, 2022: now offering two versions of the "Mount B" part: one with nut capture slots and one without. - July 11, 2022: now offering two thickness of the spring leaf: 1.0 mm thick (same as original design) and 0.8 mm thick.
