Insta360 One X2 adapter for DJI bayonet mount (velomobile) (FreeCAD)

I nearly lost my One X2 two times because of breaking mounts.

First time a plastic frame broke, next time (see video) the DJI bayonet adapter.

First step to the solution was to reduce weight by removing the battery from the camera, see: One X2 cable guide .

Next step: as the weak point always was the bolted action cam hinge mount… get rid of it!

So I designed a case which holds the camera snugly. This case is directly combined with a bayonet mount – no moving parts, maximum contact. The camera is secured with a ¼" screw.

On the rear is a cable guide to secure the USB cable with a tie because the camera is powered by an external powerbank only.

The case is tilted 5° forward because of the mounting position on my velomobile's scoop. If you have to alter this, you will have to remodel a couple of chamfers and fillets and also the bores for the bolt and washer. – Yes it's a little work to do, but saving more than 50 grams is worth it.

The little upper washer (red ring) sits tight on the bolt's thread and is meant to hold the bolt in place. The larger washer (blue) is to evenly distribute the force from the metal washer.

The ¼" bolt is 16 mm (5/8") long. I chose a simple bolt and an allen key (instead of a knurled–head bolt) because the smaller bolt head fits totally in the bayonet mount and a larger head wouldn't.

PETG. (Period.) 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layer height, 5 perimeters, 8 top & bottom layers, 50 % cubic infill, arachne.
