Features
- Child-Friendly Design : Specifically tailored for a 6-year-old's hand size and play style. - Fixed Axle Design : Utilizes a 4.2mm iron nail cut to 23mm length for a robust and responsive spin. - Customizable Weight : Design includes cavities for embedding nuts (M5 recommended), allowing for personalized weight distribution. - Durability Tested : Rigorously tested for durability, including impact tests. Materials Needed
- 3D Printer and filament - Iron nail (4.2mm diameter, 23mm length) - Nuts for weight (M5 size) - Yo-Yo string Instructions
- 3D Print Yo-Yo Halves : Download the 3D design file and print two halves of the yo-yo. Note that 3mf file has embossed text (letter) which you can change or remove directly from PrusaSlicer. - Prepare the Axle : Cut a 4.2mm iron nail to a length of 23mm and smooth any rough edges. - Embed the Nuts : Insert your choice of nuts into the cavities designed in each half of the yo-yo for weight customization. Printing pause is set in 3mf file. - Assemble : Insert the nail into the center hole of one yo-yo half, then attach the second half. - String Your Yo-Yo : Thread a yo-yo string around the nail axle, ensuring it is neither too tight nor too loose. - Test and Enjoy : Test the yo-yo for balance, responsiveness, and durability. Make any necessary adjustments. Understanding the Physics
The weight distribution in a yo-yo is crucial for its performance. Placing more weight at the rim can improve stability and increase sleep time due to higher rotational inertia. The use of a fixed axle provides a responsive and easy-to-control experience, perfect for beginners and especially suitable for younger players.
