Fiat 124 Spider / MX-5 ND passenger side cup holder

Cup holder for Fiat 124 Spider / Mazda MX-5 ND for right hand drive versions, some of the Components could be mirrored to facilitate usage on left hand drive.

This solves the issue of the OEM cup holder being an obstruction to the passenger and making their journey uncomfortable whilst only making it slightly harder to reach the interior temperature knob.

Parts needed:

2x M5x25mm countersunk screws

6x M3x4mm countersunk screws

6x Ø8x85mm aluminium tubes (available in most hardware stores) or suitable substitute

1x M4x140mm threaded rod

2x M4 lock nuts

1x V-slot nut

Assembly:

M3 screw holes can be tapped or use the screw to form thread.

Aluminium rods to be glued in, do not use superglue as this sets too fast.

M4 threaded rod used to add compression along the layers making it stronger, use two lock nuts and tighten them together, then use a socket to tighten against the V-slot nut in the bottom section:
