Описание

This is an old project that was never meant for sharing. It's still salvageable for enthusiasts, but not easy or simple to make. In fact, you will have to figure out a few things yourself if you want to recreate the ReFOVeR. It will require some creativity and tinkering so read before you proceed !

The HP Reverb G2 is an amazing headset, super comfortable, great clarity, and great colors. If only it had a great FOV and sweet spot too… Now, with the ReFOVeR it finally does!

When I got my HP Reverb G2, I was surprised by how far away the lenses were from my eyes. It seems I was not alone, many people talked about ways to get your eyes closer to the lenses, such as the ‘FrankenFOV’ mod. Doing so certainly helps, the FOV and sweet spot are much better and this makes the Reverb G2 even more amazing! But the price is high: you lose the amazing comfort of the original..

I found some 3D printable custom models, but none of them could come close to the original, neither in comfort nor aesthetics. It was time to design my own; no pleather, no compromises! Once the design looked promising my friend and I teamed up and we set out to find a way to produce the gasket. The ReFOVeR is the result of our very hard work.

By testing with multiple users, the gasket itself is designed to provide a 5mm shortened eye relief, whilst maintaining the overall shape and aesthetic of the original. A slot is provided to ensure that the display cable is not impinged.

This facial interface brings your eyes to the optimal distance to the lenses, with some users gaining more than 10 degrees! It also provides a wider sweet spot, which allows you to see more in focus!

On the models

- Overview - 3D model for printed drop-in replacement facial interface - exact match of original curvature - unleashes the full FOV of the Reverb G2 - designed for printing directly - 3D model for nose piece - designed to snugly slot into the facial interface - designed to be made of skin-friendly flexible material - 3D model for cushion plate - designed to curve the foam - enables glueing it to the facial interface - 2D design of the foam - designed to help cut the foam - the foam will curve into correct shape You will need to collect/make the following:

- 1x ReFOVeR - 1x cushion plate - 1x cutting guide - superglue - magnets - 2x 4x10mm cylindrical magnet - 2x 4x7mm cylindrical magnet - 2x 5x10mm cylindrical magnet - foam - any type and thickness you prefer You will need the figure out the following:

- some way to cover the foam in fabric - you can use dyed tubular bandage (that's what we did) - you could use black fabric cut-to-size (not sure how to do that) - you can try without (could work)

- some way to make the nose piece - you can design a 3D-printed mold and cast it out of silicone (thats what we did) - you could 3D-print it directly out of TPU or varioshore (could work) - you could shape or form EVA foam (not sure how to do that) Quick overview of how to craft it:

- collect everything you need - make the cushion plate - use the cushion cutting guide to cut the foam into the right shape - glue the foam to the cushion plate - cover it in tubular fabric ( ) - make the nose piece - figure out a way to do it (I will not reveal my silicone whispering secrets) - assemble everything - glue the magnets into the respective slots (mind the orientation) - glue the cushion plate onto the ReFOVeR - insert the nubs of the nose piece into the slots on the ReFOVeR
