The models differ mainly in purpose. Wall letters are usually flat plates, sometimes with a raised back for mounting, while keychains are small and often include a hole or ring. Letters made for illuminated signs are shaped to hold a light source behind the face, and ornate monogram or filigree versions replace a plain outline with detailed internal cutouts.
