The models split into a few recognisable groups. Flat filler inserts replace a worn or missing sole, orthopedic and antipronation designs add arch or heel shaping, height-boosting versions raise the heel, and textured or honeycomb patterns work as a massage surface. Multi-material and multi-colour variants appear as well, usually printed in segments that are joined afterwards.
