The models fall into a few groups. Grills and covers sit on the outside of a fan and are mostly about appearance and finger protection, while filter holders add a mesh layer that has to be removable for cleaning. Ducts and adapters change the shape or the diameter of the airflow path, often stepping between a square fan frame and a round pipe. Pipe vents, louvres and backdraft flaps belong to the wall or duct side of the system and usually have a larger flat face for mounting.

When choosing a file, open the author's page and read the listed dimensions first: nominal fan size, hole spacing, opening diameter and wall thickness. Check how many parts the model has and whether they are joined with screws, clips or glue, and look at the notes on supports, orientation and material. Photos of real prints show how the surfaces and thin ribs come out, which matters for grills with narrow slots.
