Description

A fluted column crowned with a leafy capital: two overlapping rows of rounded, leaf-like lobes wrap around the top of the shaft beneath a flat square abacus. The fluted shaft stands on a round base moulding. It is 78 mm tall with a 32 mm square abacus.

The Corinthian order, the most ornate of the Greek orders, is characterised by a bell-shaped capital dressed in acanthus leaves. It was invented in Greece and became a favourite of Roman builders, appearing on monuments such as the Pantheon portico. This model gives a simplified, stylised interpretation of the leaf capital rather than detailed serrated acanthus.

Use it for temple terrain and ruins, as a display plinth for miniatures, as part of a classical orders set with the other columns in this collection, or as an elegant desk ornament.

Print tips: print upright on the round base. The leaf lobes bulge outwards and the abacus projects, so use light supports under the capital or print upside down on the abacus.

Original design modelled by 3dancientarts. Part 03 of 12 of the Classical Columns collection.
