Basic information

The design was inspired by the Green Sea Turtle, which is undoubtedly one of the most iconic sea animals.

The model is is split into 6 movable parts: a shell, which serves as a centerpiece, a head, and 4 fins. It prints in place, and no additional assembly is required.

The base model is slightly oversized, so that all the fine details come out nicely, namely if you're printing in multicolor. If you're printing it in a single color only, and aren't bothered with loss of definition too much, feel free to downscale it to your liking. The model has been thoroughly tested, and should print fine up to 60% of the original size in single color, if you have a well calibrated, and reasonably accurate setup.

Included files

I have included 5 files: All of them are in the .stl format, and sorted into 2 folders. The folders are labeled Single color and Multicolor , the single color folder contains 1 file, which is a plain, 1 piece version of the model, intended for single color printing. The Multicolor folder contains 3 files for multicolor printing, each file is named after the color, which was used on the example model in the image gallery. Import them all at once into your slicer as one file with multiple parts, and it should automatically align the parts, and assign an individual color to each of them.

Scaling

The model should come out perfectly functional even at lower scales. Tested up to 60% of the original scale. Results may vary depending on the accuracy of your setup and quality of the materials used.

Adhesion aid

Not necessary, the contact area with the buildplate should be sufficient. However if your print surface suffers from poor adhesion, consider using an adhesive spray, or some other kind of adhesion booster. Using a brim is possible, but not recommended, as it would be too difficult, and inconvenient to remove afterwards.

A slow 100% 0.16mm layer, 3 walls, 15% infill 0.16 layer height with a few modified settings just to get a smoother print.

Not a fast print by any means, I focused on quality & a reliable print over speed.

Also scaled it to 100%

100% scale multi-color, sturdy. 0.2mm layer, 4 walls, 30% infill Full size (150mm / 5.9") in multicolor ready for AMS printing (4 colors). Made sturdy with 4 walls/perimiters and 30% infill, I think this should hold up pretty well as a functional toy.

0.2mm layer, 2 walls, 15% infill

ColoredTail, 60% size x4, 0.16mm layer, 3 walls, 50% infill I colored the tail as the limbs to make it more reasonable. It's a good decoration for the aquarium! I tried 50% infill, but it still floats. You may try to fill more or insert some weight.

Swapping filament takes most of the time. The unit time cost goes down if you print multiples.

0.12mm layer, 2 walls, 40% infill Extra fine settings that came out really well. 0.12mm High Quality, 40% infill to make it more durable, and more fun to play with. iron type: Top surface

60% scale, MD Colors, 0.12mm layer (High Quality) Prints without supports, and quickly. Colors can be changed under print settings.

135% scaled for A1 Mini - 0.16mm layer, 3 walls, 10% infill Rotated diagonally on my A1 Mini bed to get maximum size possible to fit. This is a three color AM print.

I used PETG and generic PETG filament profile and this 3 color design took 19.5 hrs on my A1 Mini.

You may change to any filament type you like. This is awesome and it's worth the wait and filament in my opinion.

7 colors, Patterns on scales, custom profile and 100% Painted with objects and custon in Bambu.
