While originally conceived for 3D printer filament spools, its true strength shines when repurposed for industrial or hobbyist storage. I personally use empty filament spools to organize and store my electrical cables . When nearly full, these spools can quickly reach several kilograms (multiple pounds, 25m of H07V-K 16 mm² => 4,25 kg) , and standard holders simply don't cut it.

This design is engineered around readily available 20mm aluminum round rods (or similar stiff materials like steel or carbon fiber tubes) for maximum rigidity. It includes thoughtful features to ensure your valuable materials remain neatly organized, secure, and easily accessible.

- Material: PETG or ABS recommended for strength, rigidity, and creep resistance under sustained load. PLA might work for lighter loads but could deform under heavy weight over time. - Infill: 20-30% or higher for critical structural parts (e.g., clamp bodies, base). I used 3D Honeycomb in PrusaSlicer. - Perimeters/Wall thickness: 3-4 walls for maximum durability. - Nozzle size: 0.4mm or 0.6mm (larger nozzle for faster print and stronger parts). - Heat-set Insert Installation: Ensure your printer maintains dimensional accuracy for the 4.2mm holes to allow for easy and secure heat-set insert installation.
