3D Models for Gear Drives and Gearboxes (STL)

This collection gathers 3D models built around gear drives: extruder drive gears, reduction gearboxes, cycloidal units and bevel gear sets. Most of them are mechanical parts meant for a 3D printer, so the useful question is not what they look like but how they are meant to be assembled. The STL files here range from single gears to complete housings, which makes the collection a starting point for both repairs and new builds. Polyzon does not confirm whether models are free, their price, license, official status, affiliation, safety or fitness. Check the current terms at the source.

«3D Models for Gear Drives and Gearboxes (STL)»

The models fall into a few groups. Extruder drive gears and compact extruder bodies are usually small, printed in one or two pieces and paired with a motor and a bearing. Gearboxes and cycloidal drives are larger assemblies with several stages, a housing and a shaft interface. Bevel and spiral bevel sets are separate pairs of gears that change the direction of rotation, often designed around a specific shaft diameter.

When choosing a model, read the author's page before printing. Check the stated size and scale, the number of parts and how they fit together, whether supports are needed, and the material and settings the author lists. Look at photos of real prints to judge wall thickness and how the teeth came out. For gears, the module or tooth profile and the shaft bore matter more than the overall look, because a mismatch there means the parts will not mesh.

To narrow the search, try the terms used for the same idea: drive gear, pinion, spur gear, herringbone, planetary, worm, ratio, NEMA 17, Bowden or direct drive. If you are after a complete mechanism rather than a single part, search for gearbox or extruder instead of gear. Related topics such as extruder mounts, motor brackets and shaft couplings often lead to the parts that complete the assembly.

FAQ

Preguntas frecuentes

What is the difference between a drive gear and a gearbox model?
A drive gear is a single toothed part that turns a shaft or feeds filament. A gearbox is an assembly of several gears, a housing and output shaft, and it is usually printed as multiple pieces that must be joined.
How do I know if a gear model will mesh with my motor?
Check the tooth profile or module, the number of teeth and the bore or shaft diameter on the author's page. These three values decide whether two gears work together, regardless of how the model looks.
Do these models need supports?
It depends on the geometry: overhanging teeth, housings and bores often do. The author's page usually states whether supports are needed and which orientation was used.
Can I scale a gear model up or down?
Scaling changes the tooth size along with everything else, so two gears scaled by different amounts may no longer mesh. If you need a different size, look for a model made for that module or shaft diameter.
