Описание

Scoopy – a tiny Home Assistant room controller

Scoopy is a small, USB-C powered room controller designed for Home Assistant and ESPHome .

It started as a way of replacing the collection of separate smart-home buttons and presence sensors I had around the house with one small, consistent device.

Scoopy is built around an ESP32-C3 and provides two physical buttons and three individually controllable status LEDs. The Presence version also includes an LD2410C mmWave presence sensor , allowing Home Assistant to detect room occupancy even when someone is sitting still.

The buttons support single, double and hold actions through Home Assistant, so they can control pretty much anything you want: lights, scenes, fans, blinds, alarms, scripts or entire room automations. The LEDs can also be controlled from Home Assistant and used for status, feedback, reminders or locator lights.

Two versions

Scoopy + Presence — 32 × 44 × 16 mm

The full version, with two buttons, three status LEDs and LD2410C mmWave presence sensing.

Scoopy Compact — 32 × 32 × 16 mm

The smaller version for rooms where presence sensing isn't needed. It keeps the same buttons, LEDs, ESPHome firmware and Home Assistant integration.

The files here contain the printable enclosure parts for both versions.

The rest of Scoopy is available too

Scoopy isn't just a printable enclosure. The whole project is source available so you can build one yourself, understand how it works, modify it and make your own version.

The GitHub repository contains the PCB design and KiCad files, Gerbers, BOM, ESPHome firmware, documentation, assembly instructions and Home Assistant automation examples.

If you just want to see what Scoopy does, look through the setup guides and examples, or have a look at the finished versions:

If you build one, modify the enclosure or come up with a particularly ridiculous Home Assistant automation for it, I'd genuinely love to see it.
